Founded in 1923 by Ray Haben, Haben Funeral Home and Cremation Service is the oldest family business in Skokie. In its early years, our funeral home operated from a small storefront in town. Later, we moved to our current location on Niles Center Road. Back then, many funeral homes were operated out of private homes. Our facility was one of the first structures built specifically for funeral service.
Keeping with family tradition, in 1950, Rays son, William, joined the funeral home, followed in 1978 by his son, John. Today we remain an active part of the Skokie community, contributing time to civic, business, charity, and government groups.

Our family funeral home offers a wide range of options, from simple burial or cremation to full visitations with memorial services. Our full-time funeral directors are available to help families arrange services that are meaningful and affordable. After the funeral, we offer our Aftercare Resource Program, which ensures families have the support they need while grieving. The program includes a lending library, grief counselor resources, and newsletters.
