Mary Alice Fidler (65) passed away peacefully on May 13, 2019 under the care of hospice after a long struggle with early-onset dementia. She was born May 1, 1954 in Gadsden, AL to Jerry Lambert (92) and Laura Lee Hopper Hall and later attended the University of Tennessee where she met Bernard Philip Fidler whom she married September 11, 1976. After raising a family in Nashville, TN she lived in 4 states in her later years, including Illinois for her last four months in the loving home of her first-born daughter, Angela, and her family.

Mary was a devoted mother to her three children, often dedicating herself to being room mom, cookie mom, neighborhood mom, and later a “mimi” that would hop a plane to help out. She instilled in her children independence, studiousness, and a nostalgic appreciation of slightly burnt food.

Mary loved reading, crafting, sewing, and creating. Genealogy and history fascinated her. Even late in dementia, her love of family and creativity shone through. She hated cats and never went ice skating.

She is preceded by her husband of 38 years, Bernie, and her mother Laura.

She is survived by her father Jerry (Nancy) Hall of Gadsen, AL, children Angela (Michael J.) Fidler Pfammatter of Chicago, IL, Andrew Fidler (Lizzie Fischer) of Garrett Park, MD, and Caitlin Fidler of Durham, NC,  sister Elizabeth (Larry) Tucker, step-siblings Nila (Greg) Nabors and Jonathan (Donna) Prickett.

She also leaves 3 grandchildren Camille Pfammatter (10) and Elijah (5) and Marigold Fischer-Fidler (2) as well as 3 nieces Laura Tucker, Caroline Nabors, Laura Prickett, and 2 nephews Patrick (Christen) Tucker and Alex Prickett.
